Tanja Grunert: Nicole Cherubini, F-Print 3 (with Fountain), 2019, terra-cotta, earthenware, glaze, grog, pc-11, pine, roman paint, archival print, 39.5 x 23.5 x 11 inches

Contributed by Karlyn Benson / The summer heat has given way to mild and sunny weekends, making it the perfect time to explore the Hudson Valley. There are notable exhibitions opening throughout the month, starting on September 6 with What’s That Sound Everybody Look What’s Going Down, a group show at Private Public in Hudson including work by Richard Artschwager, Ross Bleckner, Sharon Butler, Michael David, James Esber, Ellen Kozak, Stephen Maine, Donna Moylan, Michael Rodriguez, and more. There are also openings in Hudson on September 6 at Front Room Gallery and Susan Eley Fine Art. The Center for Photography in Kingston is opening three new exhibitions on September 20, including Kinship & Community: Selections from the Texas African American Photography Archive. Some shows to catch before they close include GRIT at BAU Gallery in Beacon (Juror Jess Wilcox), Bill Schuck and Marieken Cochius at the Garrison Art Center, Something between knowing and not at ADS Warehouse in Newburgh, Salvage Stories at the Kleinert/James Center for the Arts in Woodstock, A Break in the Clouds at 68 Prince Street in Kingston, and the Wassaic Project’s annual summer show, So It Goes. At the end of the month I am looking forward to Ann Street Gallery’s annual Emerging Artist Fellowship exhibition which opens during Newburgh Open Studios, September 27-28.
